LARES TREK TO MACHUPICCHU
4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS
The trekking from Lares to Machupicchu is a route where you will go through snowy mountains and subtropical valleys, during the trip you can enjoy beautiful lakes, natural thermal baths and Inca remains. Because it is a remote place, the area has allowed its people to still preserve their traditional lifestyle, using colorful fabrics made with llama fiber and alpaca with ancestral techniques, as well as the cultivation of potatoes and livestock.
This trek is experiential because you can see close – up the customs and experiences of the Andean people.
DAY 01: CUSCO – LARES – WACAHUASI
We will picked up from your accommodation by averaging 5 am to go on our private transport to the town of Lares, during the journey we can appreciate the majestic Sacred Valley of the Inkas with its fertile lands, then we will arrive at the locality of Calca located at (2.940 masl), there we will stop to buy some necessary implements for trekking, then continue the route, passing through the highest point of the route called Abra Amparaes (4,580 masl). Finally after a trip of 4 hours approx we will arrive at Lares at (3,200 masl), here we will have the chance of relaxing in the thermal baths that are in the place. Later, after lunch we will continue with the trip for around 4 hours to reach our first camp in Wacahuasi at (3,600 masl)
DAY 02: WACAHUASI – IPSAYCOCHA – PATACANCHA
Very early,after breakfast we start the trek to our second camp where we will ascend through the Ipsay pass on the way we will see different rural communities as well as different customs and textiles that they weave for their daily use. Lunch will be near the lagoon of Ipsaycocha and after a nap, then we continue with the trek to go to the town of Patacancha where we will spend the second night.
DAY 03: PATACANCHA – WILLOQ – OLLANTAYTAMBO
After breakfast we will continue our walk toward Willoq, a small town with original customs, during the journey of our walk we will observe the archaeological remains of Qochapata and Pumamarca. At around 2:00 p.m. we will arrive at the town of Ollantaytambo, for the respective lunch and then be able to board the train to Aguas Calientes, here you will pass the night in a reserved accommodation.
DAY 04: MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO. Very early you will go to the bus station to take your transport toward the Machupicchu Sanctuary, where you will have a guided tour for around 2 hours. Then you will have free time to explore and take pictures on your own. According to the timetable of the train ticket, you will go down to Aguas Calientes to board the return train to Ollantaytambo where the transportation will be waiting for you to come back to Cusco.
